Transitions Global is about creating solutions. At Transitions Global, we are experiencing a 79.6% success rate. This success is measured by girls leaving our program and not being re-trafficked, exploited, or engaging in commercial sex during their first year of independence. For us, this is just the beginning. Real success for us means that girls have been reintegrated into society with new adult life skills, educational opportunities, and earning potential with sustainable jobs. But it doesn’t end there. We want girls to leave Transitions Global with their dignity, self-respect, and the sense that the world is full of possibilities.

With a focus on viable and sustainable job skills girls who have been reintegrated have become anything they want – from social workers, to yoga instructors, to computer specialists and language translators.

Because we focus on maximizing opportunities for a happy and sustainable future, we must be results driven. This is done in order to promote effective family-centered and community-based practices and supports for girls that have been sexually trafficked. This also helps their families by addressing the need for culturally-relevant, individualized services, addressing trauma, stigma, and incorporating the concept of recovery in the girls’ therapy. Our approach is to describe, document, and evaluate practices that are highly valued and thought to promote wellness in girls and families, but for which empirical evidence is largely lacking. In everything we do, we have a goal in mind, both for our clients, their families and the organization. Together, we move forward and succeed.

One of our goals is to overcome the obstacles that stand in the way of girls achieving their dreams. The current state of aftercare has about a 78% failure rate. This means that recidivism has overwhelmed programs working with victims of sex trafficking. We want to create a model that gives girls the best opportunity for success.

Transition Global is currently working with Pacific Graduate School of Psychology, beginning in November 2009, to document our results and to create a better understanding of how we can improve our service delivery to the girls we serve.
